TREE PLANTING CAMPAIGN 2018
Over the past few years conservationists have consistently advocated for trees to be planted to replace the ones being cut for various purposes ranging from industrial to household use. I was privileged to have participated in a tree planting exercise organized by Rotary club Umungasi Aba on 21st September 2018 and the feeling is better experienced than told. I would like to take some time to share with us a little bit of what tree planting is all about and need for everyone to be an advocate for this worthy cause.
Tree planting according to Google is the process of transplanting tree seedlings, generally for forestry,land reclamation/ land scaping purpose.The importance of tree planting cannot be over emphasized because the advantages out weigh the disadvantages, this is because continuous cutting down of trees for industrial and household purposes without replacements i.e by Replanting will gradually expose our soil to desertification (extremely dry weather)and Erosion (caused by heavy rainfall).
The importance of Tree Planting;
1.Trees contribute to the environment by providing oxygen (which is by the way a waste product to the tree/plants) and which is very essential to man/animal existence,humans give out carbon dioxide as waste.It is safe to say that trees/plants have a mutual benefitting relationship with man/animals in this regard.
2. Trees helps to preserve the soil from wear and tear by elements of weather like rainfall etc which can cause erosion and desertification as the case may be.
Benefits of Tree Planting include;
1.Trees reduces the amount of storm water runoffs, which reduces erosion and pollution in our waterways and may reduce the effects of flooding.
2. Trees provide habitat and food for wildlife.
There is so much more to gain from Planting Trees, and I would love to use this medium and opportunity to encourage everyone of us in our little way to Plant trees and save our Earth from destruction by elements of adverse weather conditions.
JUST MUSING🤔
