RISE IN DEPRESSION AND SUICIDE 1
Recently depression and anxiety has seemingly been on the rise in the society,lots of people are gradually sinking into depression and eventually committing suicide. Children as young as 8yo are not even left out, I don't really want to go into listing names of people who have come to the social media to cry out over depression both locally and internationally and eventually ended up taking their lives. This outcry made me realize that Depression and suicidal thoughts is not restricted to the low income earners or middle class.Even the wealthy and affluent have all fallen victims of this psychological trauma,celebrities and even politicians are not left out.
Depression is simply a period of unhappiness or Low morale(persistent feeling of sadness or loss of interest). This definition is to a layman's understanding,there could be medical angles in addition to this definition but I'll leave that for the medical professionals to explain.
Anxiety is an unpleasant state of mental uneasiness,nervousness,apprehension or concerns about some uncertain events.
Suicide is the intentional killing of oneself.
These three(3) are related because Depression and Anxiety most times leads to Suicide.If they are tackled effectively and efficiently the rates of Suicide would be significantly reduced. There are factors responsible for Depression and Anxiety, often times they are neglected or overlooked or not even noticed but I shall be dwelling on that in the next Post. I would love to remind us that we all have a role to play in each other's lives that is why the Creator (God) gave Eve to Adam in the garden of Eden. One way or another we are connected and linked,we must always show concern to the plight of brethren (no restrictions here,man/woman,race,sex,religion,political leaning etc) and make people feel loved and appreciated even when they have no direct family members. A phone call,visit or counselling may just save a life before death comes under the guise of Suicide. It doesn't cost us anything to show some love to those around us and it would rather benefit us.
KEEP SHOWING LOVE TO BRETHREN TO STOP THIS PLAGUE OF SUICIDE ON HUMANITY!!!!!
