Ash Wednesday and its significance!
Today 26th day of February 2020, marks the beginning of the Lenten season in the Church. It is the season of reflection for Christians and a time to make amendments. Orthodox Christians( Catholic and Anglican) mark the beginning of the Lenten season by placing Ash made from wood( some say the Palm fronds from the Palm Sunday service).
It serves to remind the Laity that they are humans and to dust they would return. The church during this period would fast for 40days imitating Jesus Christ's 40days fasting before officially starting his ministry. Christians are advised to eschew every form evil and sin and lead lives worthy of emulation which would also honor God.
