NOVEMBER TO REMEMBER!
The Month started on a positive note for me in Rotary because we successfully hosted our much anticipated Fund Raising Dinner despite the heavy downpour that threatened to destroy the day.
I also attended the LONGRICH convention in Eko hotels Lagos,it was nostalgic for me to visit the South West of Nigeria after about eight years, fond memories of my experience with my Yoruba speaking friends and delicacies were reignited. The Lagos traffic was terrible as usual a trip back to my friend's house which would have ordinarily taken at least 45mins ended up like 4hours. I really do not envy my Lagos based friends and relatives just because of the traffic they have to deal with all day and every day.
This week alone news making rounds in the country has kept everyone busy and sharing their divergent views on issues in the news and social media. One of such news was the Justice Othman of Abuja Federal High Court disqualified the case by Busola Dakolo against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo and awarded 1,000,000 naira against Busola. The Honorable judge opined that the case was more of sentiments that facts and that the courts can only work with hard evidence and facts. Some people felt that the judgment wasn't fair to Busola Dakolo and that justice ought to have been served to the "erring" Pastor, while others felt that Busola Dakolo got exactly what she deserves. Whatever stand we take it shouldn't be based on sentiments but with facts, after all no body apart from Busola Dakolo and Biodun Fatoyinbo and God can truly say what may have transpired between these two individuals.
As the two states of Kogi and Bayelsa slug it out on 16th November to elect a new Governor my earnest plea with the candidates and their various parties is not to make the elections a war arena but should consider that "No one's ambition is worth the Blood of any Nigerian" according to former President Goodluck Jonathan. The electorates themselves shouldn't sell themselves cheaply to these bloodthirsty politicians, just come out and cast your vote for your preferred candidate wait to confirm the results without interfering with the collation and return home safely.
The impeachment process against President Trump seems not to favouring his accusers so far but let us keep watching as events unfold. The British Prime minister Boris Johnson's party seems to have a wonderful opportunity to win the elections in December considering the decision by Jeremy Corbin's party decision to steer clear of the elections. Time will tell the outcomes though.
JUST MUSING🤔!
